Collin Sexton Traded: Jazz Guard Moves to Hornets for Jusuf Nurkić and a Future Pick

The Utah Jazz have traded guard Collin Sexton to the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for center Jusuf Nurkić and a future second-round draft pick.

The Utah Jazz are trading guard Collin Sexton and a second-round pick for 2030 to the Charlotte Hornets, in exchange for the big man Jusuf Nurkić, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. This marks Sexton’s move to his third NBA team after spending the last three seasons in Utah.

Performance Insights

Sexton, now 26 years old, averaged 18.4 points, 4.2 assists, and 2.7 rebounds during the 2024-25 season. The Jazz’s recent selection of Florida All-American guard Walter Clayton Jr with the No. 18 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft has increased speculation that Utah was likely to trade Sexton or fellow guard Jordan Clarkson to make way for rookie talent and their young core.

Trade Details

The Hornets had acquired Nurkić at the trade deadline from the Phoenix Suns, who traded Nurkić along with a first-round pick in 2026 for Cody Martin, Vasilije Micic, and a second-round pick in 2026. Nurkić played only 25 games for the Suns last season before being traded to Charlotte, where he played a total of 51 games, averaging 8.9 points and 7.8 rebounds.
