The PGA Tour’s summer circuit has arrived in Detroit for the 2025 Rocket Classic at Detroit Golf Club. Following last week’s thrilling victory by Keegan Bradley—or the scope of Tommy Fleetwood’s narrow defeat—the U.S. Ryder Cup captain now finds himself in the spotlight as he inches closer to what could be a historic milestone, being the first playing captain since Arnold Palmer back in 1962.
As the possibility of Bradley playing becomes more realistic each week, other U.S. Ryder Cup hopefuls are adding additional tournaments to bolster their points standings for a place in the event at Bethpage Black later this summer. Collin Morikawa, currently outside the automated qualifiers for the Ryder Cup, is just three strokes behind the leader as the pivotal day unfolds.
With a lack of prominent figures climbing the leaderboard, Morikawa has a substantial chance not just to seize his first tournament title in two years but also to accumulate critical Ryder Cup points for securing his position at Bethpage Black in New York. A win for Morikawa would also set a positive tone leading into the year’s final major, with The Open making its way to Royal Portrush in three weeks.
