Malik Beasley, a free agent in the NBA, is facing scrutiny from the U.S. District Attorney’s office due to allegations of gambling connected to league games. This information was disclosed by a source to the Associated Press on Sunday, who requested anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about the issue.
The investigation was first reported by ESPN. “We are cooperating with the federal prosecutors’ investigation,” NBA spokesman Mike Bass stated.
Negotiations between Beasley and the Detroit Pistons regarding a new three-year, $42 million deal are currently paused as a result of these developments. Last season, Beasley earned $6 million while shooting 41.6% from behind the three-point line on 9.3 attempts per game.
