Second Interview Set for Mike Brown as Knicks Consider Coaching Options
The New York Knicks plan to interview Mike Brown again for their vacant coaching position after parting ways with Tom Thibodeau.
The New York Knicks will hold a second interview with Mike Brown, a two-time NBA Coach of the Year, regarding their coaching vacancy following the dismissal of Tom Thibodeau.
This marks the first time a known candidate has returned for a second interview since the position has been unoccupied for nearly a month.
In addition to Brown, other potential candidates being considered include Taylor Jenkins, the former coach of Memphis, as well as assistants James Borrego from New Orleans and Micah Nori from Minnesota.
Brown’s second interview was initially reported by the New York Post.
Previously, he guided the Sacramento Kings to the playoffs in 2023, marking their first postseason appearance since 2006, and was named Coach of the Year. Over his two and a half seasons with the Kings, Brown accumulated a record of 107-88 before being released during the previous season.
He was also honored with the Coach of the Year title in 2009 while with Cleveland, boasting a career record of 454-304.
Thibodeau was relieved of his duties on June 3, despite leading the Knicks to their first Eastern Conference finals in 25 years. He, like Brown, has also received the Coach of the Year accolade twice.
