Aaron Rodgers’ signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers has sparked extensive debate, particularly regarding whether the 41-year-old quarterback can excel in a new system. Former Steelers coach and NFL on CBS analyst, Bill Cowher, remains optimistic. When asked on The Dan Patrick Show about granting Rodgers autonomous control in the offense, Cowher responded affirmatively:
“Absolutely. I don’t think there’s any question about it. And I think Aaron’s at a point where he knows you don’t want him to be throwing the ball 40 times a game at this point. You want Aaron Rodgers to be healthy going into the playoffs.”
Additionally, Cowher emphasized the importance of balance in the Steelers offense, mentioning that utilizing his arm effectively through the key moments can foster great success.
The Steelers are also making significant offseason moves, including the acquisition of three-time All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey and dynamic wide receiver D.K. Metcalf, while re-signing key offensive linemen, ultimately aiming to erase an eight-year playoff win drought.
Cowher, who led the Steelers for 15 seasons with a record of 149-90-1, stated:
“Eight years, no playoff wins. There is a degree of urgency in that building, no question about it.”
Rodgers hopes to contribute significantly to the team as they embark on their 2025 season.
