A drone operated by an unknown source was seen flying over the U.S. men’s national team (USMNT) training in St. Louis on Tuesday, just ahead of their Concacaf Gold Cup semifinal against Guatemala scheduled for Wednesday.
-
U.S. Soccer staff are actively trying to determine the origins of the drone. The USMNT had already deployed three drones for their own training documentation, making the appearance of a fourth unexpected, as it eventually landed outside the training area near a broadcast compound.
-
This incident was not isolated; during the USMNT’s training, some individuals were reportedly caught filming the team. The connection between these two occurrences remains unclear.

The USMNT is aiming for their first Gold Cup final since their last victory in 2021, while Guatemala is looking to reach the final of this tournament for the first time since 1996.
