Tyson Fury isn’t interested in a return to boxing unless he can rectify a perceived injustice. Despite having declared himself retired as recently as May, Fury claims that a trilogy against Oleksandr Usyk could persuade him to compete again, but only on specific terms.
Fury faced Usyk twice last year, losing both bouts, including one where Usyk became the undisputed heavyweight champion. He remains adamant that a recent fight in Saudi Arabia was unfairly judged against him.
“If I was going to come back, I would come back for Usyk, but I want a fair result in England,” Fury stated in an interview. “That would be the fight I want next.”
Fury also adds, “I don’t want any favors, I want a fair fight and a fair result, which I know I didn’t get. I thought I won that second fight by five rounds. I watched it literally 250 times and each way, I never see there’s a way he won. But, they can do what they want.”
At 36 years old, Fury’s retirement history is well-known, but the idea of a fight with Anthony Joshua also intrigues many boxing fans. Promoter Eddie Hearn has even suggested a two-fight series between Fury and Joshua to conclude Joshua’s prestigious career.
