Breanna Stewart Voices Player Concerns over WNBA's Initial CBA Proposal
Stewart and fellow players express dissatisfaction with WNBA management's first offer.
The 2025 WNBA season marks a pivotal moment for the league, coinciding with surging popularity and an influx of new resources, including a national TV rights deal tied to the NBA. This growth has led to players expressing concerns regarding fair compensation.
Before the season began, WNBPA President Nneka Ogwumike outlined key objectives, such as improved travel standards and a larger revenue share for players, however, optimism faded after the WNBA’s initial proposal, which players felt disregarded their requests. Satou Sabally described the offer as “a slap in the face,” while Breanna Stewart expressed frustration, stating they felt “ignored” throughout the negotiations.
“Absolutely frustrated,” Stewart commented on the matter, indicating a lack of adequate conversation after the proposal. As talks progress, there are concerns about a potential work stoppage if player dissatisfaction continues without resolution.
