Max Muncy Out with Knee Injury After Collision Against White Sox

Dodgers' infielder Max Muncy is placed on the injured list due to a left knee bruise following a collision during a game against the Chicago White Sox.

Max Muncy, an infielder for the Los Angeles Dodgers, was placed on the injured list with a left knee bone bruise. Muncy departed during the Dodgers’ 5-4 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday due to what appeared to be a serious injury. Initially, the team designated it as ’left knee pain.’ In a related move, the Dodgers called up Esteury Ruiz from Triple-A.

The injury occurred in the sixth inning as Muncy tagged out Michael A. Taylor trying to steal third base. Although Taylor was ruled out, Muncy collapsed in pain and needed aid to exit the field. His replacement at third base was Enrique Hernández. Notably, Muncy’s injury happened just before Clayton Kershaw recorded his 3,000th career strikeout.

Muncy has dealt with a series of injuries this season, making this setback particularly unfortunate for the team. He had just started to regain his form after adjusting to wearing prescription glasses, improving his performance significantly this season. Ruiz, 26, is set to make his debut after being acquired from the Athletics in April.
