Pelicans Trade Brandon Ingram to Raptors for Brown, Olynyk, and Picks
The New Orleans Pelicans have traded Brandon Ingram to the Toronto Raptors, marking a significant deal in the NBA.
The New Orleans Pelicans are trading Brandon Ingram to the Toronto Raptors, according to Shams Charania. In exchange for the former All-Star forward, the Pelicans will receive Bruce Brown, Kelly Olynyk, a 2026 first-round pick via the Indiana Pacers, and a second-round pick.
This deal concludes Ingram’s six-year run in New Orleans, marking the biggest change for the Pelicans since they traded Anthony Davis to the Lakers in 2019. Ingram, alongside Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart, and draft picks formed the return for the Davis trade, with hopes of building a strong team centered around him and Zion Williamson. However, injuries plagued Ingram’s career, making it difficult for the duo to establish chemistry.
With the Pelicans struggling in the current season, this trade signifies a move towards rebuilding, allowing them a chance at a top pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, while Ingram looks for a fresh start in Toronto. His arrival will provide the Raptors with a dependable scorer and playmaker to assist Scottie Barnes and RJ Barrett.
