After a year away from football, Chase Claypool announces he is healthy and prepared to get back on the field in 2025. The former second-round draft pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers stated he is ‘the strongest and fastest I’ve ever been’ following a toe injury that took him out of the entire 2024 season.
Claypool, who will turn 27 on July 7, shared on Instagram about his year of rigorous rehabilitation, workouts, and recovery, detailing how he suffered a significant injury—a torn ligament and tendon in his second toe during training camp last year.
“I deeply and truly believe that the pieces will align, and I will work my way into the position to show off what’s been suppressed these last two years.”
This past offseason, Claypool expressed appreciation for the Buffalo Bills, who signed him to a one-year contract, but now he finds himself a free agent again after not re-signing with Miami Dolphins following a season where he only caught four passes in nine games.
“Signing with Buffalo was the best thing that could’ve happened to me. I was the strongest, fastest, and most prepared I had ever been. I was playing my best football.”
Initially selected 49th overall in the 2020 NFL Draft, Claypool made a notable impact during his rookie season, tying for the Steelers’ franchise record for rookie touchdowns. However, the following seasons saw a decline in performance, leading to trades to both the Chicago Bears and later the Miami Dolphins.
Despite past hurdles, Claypool remains optimistic about his ability to contribute as a valuable playmaker on the field, stating he is back to being the strongest and fastest I’ve ever been, eager to demonstrate his growth as an athlete.
