VJ Edgecombe Impresses in NBA Summer League Debut, Outshining Ace Bailey

VJ Edgecombe had an outstanding debut for the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA Summer League, achieving a double-double and outperforming fellow top-five pick Ace Bailey.

The NBA Summer League matchup on Saturday featured the Philadelphia 76ers facing off against the Utah Jazz. This game bore significance as both teams had top-five selections from the 2025 NBA Draft.

VJ Edgecombe, a player chosen by the 76ers, stood out remarkably. He scored a game-high 28 points, shooting 13 of 27, pulled down 10 rebounds, registered four assists, made two blocks, and turned the ball over just twice. Despite some struggles from long-range (1 of 7) and at the free throw line (1 of 3), Edgecombe’s performance in his debut was commendable. His ability to attack the rim under pressure was evident as was his mid-range game.

Here are some highlights from Edgecombe’s debut:

In contrast, Ace Bailey, also a top-five pick, scored eight points with a poor shooting performance of 3 of 13. However, he also showcased his athletic prowess with seven rebounds and a block of his own.

Edgecombe might have made a remarkable first impression, but both players will have future matchups ahead that fans are looking forward to.
