
Major professional sports leagues have united to support those impacted by the devastating floods in central Texas, which have resulted in at least 95 confirmed fatalities and many individuals still unaccounted for.\n\nThe Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans, and NFL Foundation have collectively pledged $500,000 each to assist victims and their families, aiming to offer both immediate help and long-term recovery resources.\n\nThe NBA also announced its decision to contribute, collaborating with local franchises such as the Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets, and San Antonio Spurs, alongside the NBA Players’ Association, to donate a total exceeding $2 million. Additionally, MLB’s Houston Astros and Texas Rangers each pledged $1 million.\n\nThese catastrophic floods struck during the Independence Day weekend, causing the Guadalupe River to rise dramatically. Texas Lieutenant Governor, Dan Patrick, reported that the river level soared 26 feet within 45 minutes as intense rainfall hit the area. Reports indicate that some counties received as much as 11 inches of rain over the weekend.\n\nThe death toll is expected to continue rising, with 75 recorded deaths in Kerr County. Among the deceased are 48 adults and 27 children. Furthermore, 11 campers from Camp Mystic, where roughly 750 children were present when the floods began, remain missing as confirmed by Kerr County Sheriff Larry Leitha.\n\nIn a statement, the Cowboys expressed, “Our hearts are heavy as we witness the destruction and loss of life in Kerr County and Texas Hill County, especially for young girls and their families affected. In light of the crisis, we are donating $500,000 to provide immediate resources for rescue and recovery efforts."\n\nThe Texans also commented, “We are heartbroken by the pain and destruction our neighbors have faced.
