When discussing the best quarterbacks of all time, Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes are frequently at the forefront of the conversation. Although Brady is often hailed as the GOAT, Mahomes’ three Super Bowl championships and five appearances make him a serious contender to rise up the ranks.
One of Mahomes’ championship losses came at the hands of Brady, who defeated Mahomes in the 2021 Super Bowl. Having now retired, Brady has been imparting wisdom to Mahomes. Recently, in an interview with “Up & Adams,” Mahomes discussed his evolving relationship with Brady and how it influences his legacy.
“I think [legacy] is always in the back of your mind – even from the beginning of my career,” Mahomes noted. “But at the end of the day, it’s about taking it a day at a time. I’ve been conscious of being blessed and having great teammates around me.”
Mahomes expressed his gratitude for Brady’s guidance, stating, “Having Tom, a guy like that, say that, just motivates me even more. I’ve actually talked to Tom a good amount this offseason. It’s cool that he wants to give me advice. He doesn’t have to be like that. He’s such a good dude.”
Mahomes is eager to keep improving his game, valuing the advice from the legend. He understands the importance of authenticity and effort in maintaining success, emulating the work ethic that gained Brady immense respect in the league.
While it remains to be seen where Mahomes will ultimately fall in the football hierarchy, he acknowledges that every step he takes is influenced by the lessons learned from Brady.
