USMNT's January Camp with MLS: A New Chapter Under Pochettino

The U.S. men's national soccer team gears up for its January camp as coach Mauricio Pochettino prepares a roster largely filled with MLS players.

Fans of the U.S. men’s national team won’t have to wait long to watch their team play in 2025.

Despite key players like Christian Pulisic and Weston McKennie staying with their club teams until FIFA’s international window in March, head coach Mauricio Pochettino will announce a roster mainly comprised of MLS players for the team’s January camp, his first since taking over in September.

The camp will take place starting January 7 in Fort Lauderdale, preparing for upcoming friendlies against Venezuela and Costa Rica.

MLS Clubs Respond to Pochettino

During a recent Zoom conference, Pochettino expressed his hope for full support from MLS clubs this January, emphasizing their cooperation in the past. He has been proactive in discussing player availability with MLS executives, determined to ensure all invited players can join the January camp.

Some players to watch for include Tim Ream, Miles Robinson, and Zack Steffen, along with newcomers and young talents hoping to secure spots ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Historically, January camps have provided valuable opportunities for developing players; notable figures such as Clint Dempsey and Landon Donovan received their first caps during these sessions. The upcoming camp will likely yield several similar success stories from fresh prospects eager to leave their mark.
