Georgia Tech to Appoint Ryan Alpert as New Athletic Director

Ryan Alpert is set to join Georgia Tech as its new athletic director following his tenure at Tennessee.

Georgia Tech is poised to appoint Ryan Alpert as its new athletic director following board approval expected on Tuesday. At just 37 years old, Alpert has been Tennessee’s deputy athletics director and chief revenue officer since 2023 and has reportedly agreed to a five-year contract.

Alpert will take over from J Batt, who left to join Michigan State earlier this year. Interim athletic director Jon Palumbo is also expected to move to East Lansing.

Since starting at Tennessee in 2021, Alpert has played a crucial role in increasing financial revenues, with the athletic department surpassing $220 million in operating revenue in the last fiscal year. His leadership was pivotal in managing nearly $500 million in capital projects, including significant renovations at Neyland Stadium.

A Columbia, South Carolina native, Alpert is a graduate of the University of South Carolina.
