Jeff Monken: The Safest College Football Coach as the 2025 Season Approaches

In a landscape marked by coaching firings and contract buyouts, Army's Jeff Monken stands out as the most secure coach heading into the 2025 college football season.

Jeff Monken of Army is recognized as the safest college football coach currently. Monken is surrounded by aspiring military leaders each day at work and enjoys considerable job security.

In the latest College Football Hot Seat Rankings released recently, every voter except one rated Monken’s job as perfectly secure, with the only dissent coming from a coach linked to Deion Sanders of Colorado.

Despite his lower profile compared to Sanders, Monken retains respect among his peers at West Point. Entering his 12th season with Army, he celebrates the program’s first conference title.

Previously, Army struggled in a conference, achieving only limited success. Under Monken, the Black Knights turned the tide, achieving their first undefeated season in 2024 and only facing two defeats – one against Notre Dame, a national title contender.

Monken, originally from Peoria, has a coaching lineage in his family and has turned around a struggling Army program since his tenure began in 2014. The Army football culture now reflects the steady progress achieved under his guidance.
