Cooper Flagg Set to Make His NBA Summer League Debut Amid High Ticket Demand
Cooper Flagg's debut in the NBA Summer League is generating substantial interest, particularly in Las Vegas, where ticket prices are soaring due to high demand.
The opening game at the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas has become a highly anticipated event every year, and this time will remain consistent. Cooper Flagg, the top pick of this year’s draft, will make his long-awaited debut against Bronny James.
Flagg’s team, the Dallas Mavericks, is set to face off against the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers, always a top attraction in Las Vegas, will feature Bronny James, the son of NBA legend LeBron James, on their roster.
Expect a packed crowd at UNLV’s Thomas & Mack Center, comprised of basketball fans and NBA players alike. With court-side tickets fetching over $3,000 on the resale market, per Vivid Seats, the average ticket costs $223, with general admission tickets starting at $84. StubHub reflects similar pricing, showcasing the cheapest option at $86 and prices soaring up to $1,066 for premium seats.
“I’m excited,” Flagg expressed. “I’ve been in the gym with the guys and I can’t wait to get back on the court and play some 5-on-5.”
The atmosphere promises to be electric as fans gather for the Mavericks vs. Lakers game, marking the commencement of a full-fledged, 30-team Summer League—much like the excitement witnessed during Victor Wembanyama’s San Antonio debut last year.
It’s worth noting that top players like Flagg may not play all five games, as seen in previous years where first-round picks often get limited playing time due to various considerations.
The Summer League begins on Thursday, culminating in a championship game on July 20. Each team will engage in a four-game regular season, with the top four qualifying for the playoffs.
