Goldberg Advocates for Bron Breakker as the Sole User of the Spear in WWE

As he prepares for his final match, Goldberg insists that only Breakker should perform the iconic spear move in WWE.

Goldberg and the spear are synonymous. The explosive running spear existed prior to Goldberg, but no one executed it quite like him, whose dominance made it iconic in both WCW and WWE. As Goldberg gears up for his last match against Gunther at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, he wishes for only one wrestler to carry the move forward: Bron Breakker.

Several superstars in WWE have utilized the spear in their own unique ways, including Roman Reigns, Charlotte Flair, and Jey Uso. However, Breakker’s execution has garnered widespread admiration for its sheer power.

The Undertaker recently expressed that Breakker should rightfully claim sole ownership of the spear, a view shared by Goldberg, another Hall of Famer.

“I told Bron my thoughts on it: I believe, 1,000%, that he’s the only one in WWE who should perform that move. I know I might face backlash for this, but it’s just how I feel. That’s the truth. It is what it is,” Goldberg remarked to CBS Sports.

Having experienced a remarkable ascent to world champion starting from rookie status in 1997 with an unprecedented 173-match winning streak during the ratings battle with WWE, Goldberg has notably integrated the spear into his arsenal of signature moves.

Goldberg attributes some of the spear’s adoption to the late Steve Williams, but maintains that WWE superstars began using it in response to his game-changing influence. “It’s clear that many wrestlers started doing the spear in WWE to undermine or devalue mine,” he stated.

Goldberg, at 58, is ready to perform his signature moves one last time when he faces world heavyweight champion Gunther in Atlanta. Fans can expect a few more electrifying spears before he officially hands over the legacy to Breakker.
