Warriors Unveil Jimmy Butler's Ambition for Championship After Chaotic Miami Exit
In his first appearance with the Warriors, Jimmy Butler expresses eagerness to contribute to the team's championship aspirations, downplaying his previous desire to join the Suns.
Jimmy Butler stated he is “happy to be playing basketball again” during his introduction with the Golden State Warriors. He emphasized his main goal of winning a championship, while also addressing reports that suggested he preferred to join the Phoenix Suns during his turbulent exit from the Miami Heat.
Butler noted that the only reason he didn’t move to Phoenix was due to Kevin Durant’s refusal to return to the Warriors.
When asked about his role with star player Stephen Curry, Butler said, “Pass the ball to Steph and get out the way,” highlighting the simplicity he foresaw in working alongside Curry.
Warriors coach Steve Kerr has said that he will simplify offensive strategies to help Butler acclimate to the team dynamics. Kerr mentioned that great players adapt well together and will work on the best combinations for the team.
Butler is expected to wear No. 10, honoring soccer star Neymar, as he prepares for his Warriors debut against the Bulls. He also agreed to a two-year, $111 million contract to stay with the Warriors until 2027.
