Novak Djokovic's Injury Concerns After Wimbledon Slip

The Serbian tennis star faces a concerning injury scare following a slip during the Wimbledon quarterfinals, even as he aims for his 25th Grand Slam title.

Novak Djokovic clinched a spot in Wimbledon’s semifinals following Wednesday’s win against Flavio Cobolli (6-7, 6-2, 7-5, 6-4) despite enduring a frightening fall in the final game of the match. Djokovic slipped on the grass after a forehand attempt led to Cobolli’s return that struck the net cord, causing Djokovic to lean to his left.

His leg awkwardly bent on the turf at the All England Lawn and Tennis Club, and he lay face down on the court for a few seconds as the crowd fell silent, while Cobolli went to pick up his racket. Djokovic managed to get back up, wiped his brow, and finished the match.

“Well, I finished the match,” Djokovic commented on the incident. “Nasty slip, but that’s what happens when you play on grass. I didn’t fall so far this year, and it’s a bit surprising because of the way I move on the grass. And with aggressive movement, you’re expected to fall. It did come at an awkward moment, but I managed to find a good serve and close it out.”
“Obviously, I’ll discuss this with my physio and will play in a few days.”

Djokovic is targeting his 25th Grand Slam this week and needs two more wins to achieve this milestone. He has expressed the desire to continue playing at a high level for several more years and remains motivated by the significant tournaments ahead.
