Rumors Surrounding Al Horford's Potential Move to the Warriors Intensify

Steph Curry hints at the possible signing of Al Horford by the Golden State Warriors amid Celtics roster changes.

Could the Golden State Warriors be nearing the addition of seasoned big man Al Horford? Warriors star Steph Curry hinted at this during a recent discussion.

“He’s a champion, great player,” Curry stated regarding Horford, via The Athletic. “When… if, when all that stuff happens, I’ll talk about it.”

Horford is currently a free agent after spending the last seven seasons with the Boston Celtics. Following Jayson Tatum’s Achilles injury, the Celtics are reportedly undergoing a roster transformation and may allow Horford to leave.

At 39, despite his age, Horford would significantly benefit the Warriors, who recorded a 48-34 last season and advanced past the first round of the playoffs before losing to the Timberwolves.

As Curry mentioned, Horford’s championship pedigree includes winning back-to-back national titles at Florida and playing a pivotal role when the Celtics claimed their first championship since 2008 in 2024. With the Warriors’ core—Curry, Draymond Green, and Jimmy Butler-—all in their 30s, the time for another title is running out.

Horford has tremendous playoff experience, having participated in 197 postseason games, ranking 11th all-time and second only to LeBron James among active players. Although his productivity is not what it once was, Horford has maintained consistent numbers throughout the last three years. Last season, he averaged 9.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 60 regular season games.

Curry’s interest in having Horford join the team is not unexpected. A four-time NBA champion, Curry aims to secure at least one more title before his career conclusion. The addition of a player like Horford would undoubtedly boost those chances.
