Hall of Famer Grant Hill believes Cooper Flagg is set for success with the Dallas Mavericks, praising the team's winning culture.
Hall of Famer Grant Hill believes that Cooper Flagg has the potential to thrive with the Dallas Mavericks. Flagg, who is regarded as a top prospect following his time at Duke, will debut in the NBA Summer League on Thursday. Hill noted that Flagg is entering a promising environment with a winning culture.
“I love Dallas,” Hill expressed, describing the team as having talented supporting players. “Unlike my rookie year on a 20-win team, he joins a franchise with playoff aspirations. It’s a fantastic environment.”
Despite the Mavericks’ turbulent changes, including the high-profile trade of Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers, they rebounded by winning the draft lottery and selecting Flagg, who is expected to be the new core of the franchise.
Hill also recalled his experience observing Flagg’s talent last summer during training with USA Basketball, stating that Flagg showcased remarkable confidence and skill against NBA players. “He handled the pressure well and was one of the top performers in practice.”
Hill advised Flagg to enjoy the game and make the most of the support from experienced players like Jason Kidd, the Mavericks’ coach, who he believes will leverage Flagg’s versatility effectively. Hill is enthusiastic about Flagg’s prospects with Dallas, emphasizing the importance of joining a competitive team for a rookie.
