Justin Simmons Holds No Grudges Against Sean Payton Following Broncos Exit, Eyes Playoff Opportunity

Simmons, despite missing playoffs in Denver, maintains a positive relationship with Payton and expresses desire to join a contender.

Justin Simmons spent his entire eight-year career with the Denver Broncos, never making the playoffs. After being released in 2024, he joined the Atlanta Falcons only to find them missing the postseason, while the Broncos broke their eight-year drought without him.

Despite the circumstances, Simmons expressed no resentment toward his former team or coach Sean Payton. “I mean, I can’t speak for Sean, but I have no bad blood with him or anyone in the building. I loved my time there. I will always consider him a friend and a great coach…”

He acknowledged the business nature of team decisions and commended the young players for their dedication to the new system under Payton.

Currently, Simmons seeks a team that can contend for the playoffs, stating, “the next couple of years, a year, whatever it is… but a contender is No. 1 on the list right now.”
