The Chicago Bears and General Manager Ryan Poles have come to an agreement on a contract extension, confirmed by CBS Sports NFL senior insider Jonathan Jones. Poles, who has been with the team since January 2022, extending his contract through the 2029 season.
At the age of 39, Poles has made several impactful moves, including a significant trade in March 2023, when he exchanged the No. 1 overall pick in that year’s draft to the Panthers for multiple picks, including the 9th and 61st overall selections, and valuable future picks. He later utilized these assets to draft several key players like quarterback Caleb Williams and wideout Rome Odunze, who were both first-round picks in 2024.
This offseason has also been noteworthy for the Bears. They hired former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and made aggressive free agency signings, bringing in six expected starters including three offensive linemen.
Despite a tough record of just 15 wins and 36 losses since his arrival, Chicago’s management maintains confidence in Poles’ abilities to guide the Bears back into the postseason.
With the last Super Bowl appearance dating back to 2006 and the team yearning for a playoff win that hasn’t been achieved since the 2010 season, this contract symbolizes a renewed faith in Poles’ leadership.
