Brewers Rookie Jacob Misiorowski Joins NL All-Star Roster After Just Five Starts

Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Jacob Misiorowski has been selected for the National League All-Star team, becoming the first player with so few games played to earn this distinction.

The final touches are being added to the rosters for the American and National League All-Star Game ahead of the notable event next Tuesday at Truist Park. As the primary rosters were finalized through votes, last-minute changes are still being made due to player opt-outs and unavailable pitchers.

One of the unexpected selections was that of 23-year-old Milwaukee Brewers rookie, Jacob Misiorowski. He replaces Matthew Boyd from the Chicago Cubs as a pitcher on the available list. Misiorowski’s performance has been outstanding with a 2.81 ERA and an impressive strikeout rate of 33.6% over just five appearances this season, totaling 25 ⅔ innings. His All-Star selection comes only a month following his debut in the major leagues.

According to Elias, this marks a record as the previous holder for the fewest games played before an All-Star selection was Paul Skenes who achieved the honor after 11 games just last season. Misiorowski has not only broken this record but set a new benchmark.

He now stands as the 30th first-time All-Star this year and the 16th replacement, boosting the total All-Stars to 80 for 2025. Misiorowski’s standout attributes include consistently pitching over 100 mph and notable performances, such as a perfect game attempt into the seventh inning and striking out 12 batters against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

His presence in Dave Roberts’ bullpen will likely be an asset during the upcoming Midsummer Classic, but the discussion regarding his selection after just five major league games will surely persist until the second half of the season begins.
