Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano Set for a Historic Third Showdown
The iconic fighters clash for the third time this Friday in New York, marking their most significant battle yet.
Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano have established one of the most captivating rivalries in women’s boxing, culminating in their third and final showdown, which will take place at Madison Square Garden this Friday night, with Taylor’s four junior welterweight titles at stake.
The initial two contests between Taylor and Serrano were both intensely competitive and controversial. Taylor won their first match in April 2022 by a split decision, a result that generated debate among fans and analysts given the close nature of the bout. Their rematch in November saw Taylor again emerge victorious, this time by unanimous decision, but many felt that Serrano deserved the win based on her performance.
An incident during the rematch led to Taylor receiving a point deduction due to headbutts, causing significant damage around Serrano’s eyes.
“I’m going to use my head – but not the way it was used on me,” Serrano said during the final press conference. “We’re just going to be smarter. I did work a lot smarter for this fight and I believe that we can come out victorious. We will come out victorious.”

In keeping with the standard rules governing women’s boxing, the fight will be contested over 10 rounds, each lasting two minutes.
“I’m taking the fight again because I love the challenge of this,” Taylor noted. “I want to take the best fights. It doesn’t really matter to me; I just want to take the biggest challenges in women’s boxing, and after the last fight, this was still the biggest fight in women’s boxing. So that’s why I’m taking it. Why not take the challenge again? I believe that I can beat [Amanda] again. That’s why I have taken the fight again.”
