Jacob Misiorowski, a right-handed pitcher for the Milwaukee Brewers, was selected for the All-Star Game as a replacement for Matthew Boyd of the Chicago Cubs after only five starts. This selection is seen as both surprising and groundbreaking, as he could set a record for the least number of games played before an All-Star appearance. The Philadelphia Phillies feel two of their pitchers, Cristopher Sánchez and Ranger Suárez, should have been chosen instead.
Trea Turner, the Phillies’ shortstop, expressed his dissatisfaction, stating, “What a joke, that’s f—ing terrible. If he’s not an All-Star then no one is.” Turner’s frustrations highlight the sentiments in the Phillies’ clubhouse.
Despite Misiorowski’s impressive performances early in his career, it seems premature for him to be named an All-Star. Nevertheless, it could also serve as a showcase for a rising star.
