Ty Darlington, the co-offensive coordinator for Tulsa football, was arrested over the weekend on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to police reports obtained by KOTV. Authorities report that Darlington was reportedly speeding on Kimberly Park Place in Jenks, a suburb of Tulsa, when he nearly collided with a patrol vehicle responding to an earlier incident.
Officers noted that Darlington exhibited slurred speech and the strong smell of alcohol. He has since been taken into custody and is facing charges including reckless driving and aggravated DUI. The university issued a statement expressing awareness of the situation and that they are still gathering more information.
Darlington had previously played center at Oklahoma from 2012 to 2015, making 26 starts across 37 games. He won the prestigious Campbell Trophy and the Wuerffel Trophy during his senior year for his leadership and community contributions. After a brief stint with the Tennessee Titans in 2016, where he attempted to join the NFL, Darlington transitioned into coaching roles, eventually reaching his current position at Tulsa in December.
In 2022, Darlington served as a quality control coach at Florida before moving to Incarnate Word as the tight ends coach, and served as the offensive line coach in 2024 before returning to Tulsa.
