Tiger Woods to Return at 2025 Genesis Invitational After Long Break

Tiger Woods will participate in the upcoming Genesis Invitational, marking his return to professional golf after a seven-month hiatus.

Seven months after his last professional tournament at the 2024 Open Championship, Tiger Woods, a 15-time major champion and 82-time PGA Tour winner, announces his return to the PGA Tour for the Genesis Invitational. This tournament is significant as Woods has hosted it in California since 2020.

This will be Woods’ first non-major appearance on the PGA Tour since he withdrew from last year’s Genesis Invitational due to health issues. The event will take place at Torrey Pines, after the venue was moved from Riviera Country Club due to wildfires in Los Angeles.

Woods expressed his support for the local community affected by the fires, emphasizing the importance of remaining responsive and sensitive to the challenges they face. He stated, “There were so many different options on the table, and we tried to be considerate of all the victims affected by these fires. Remaining in Southern California allows us to raise more funds for those who have been impacted.”

While Woods has not participated in an official PGA Tour event since The Open, he has engaged in other competitions, including the PNC Championship alongside his son, Charlie. His return marks a hopeful moment for fans and the golf community, as he aims to overcome the struggles faced in recent years, including multiple health setbacks.
