With less than a year left until the 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to commence on June 11, 2026, in Mexico City, Mexico, details are now emerging regarding how fans can secure their tickets. This tournament will take place in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, marking the first instance in history where 48 teams will participate, an increase from the previous 32 teams. This expansion introduces an additional knockout round, consisting of 32 teams, following the group stage, before progressing to the round of 16.
The list of qualifiers is still being finalized as more teams secure their spots during the international windows leading up to the World Cup draw, scheduled for December once the interconfederation playoffs are complete. However, fans will have a chance to enter the ticket lottery program starting on September 10, allowing them to buy tickets for this highly-anticipated event.
Ticketing Process
Fans are able to register their interest now by visiting FIFA’s website and creating a FIFA ID. This ID will be necessary for purchasing tickets. The first ticket draw will occur on September 10, giving fans a chance to acquire tickets if selected. Due to high demand, ticket sales will happen in phases from September 10 to July 19, 2026.
