Lamine Yamal Extends Contract with FC Barcelona, Adopts Iconic No. 10 Jersey
FC Barcelona confirms that Lamine Yamal has signed a contract extension until 2031 and will wear the legendary No. 10 jersey, previously worn by football greats.
Barcelona has confirmed that Lamine Yamal has signed a new deal extending his contract with the club until summer 2031. The 18-year-old will wear the famous No. 10 jersey from the 2025-26 season, a number once held by legends Ronaldinho and Lionel Messi. The club’s announcement came shortly after Yamal’s 18th birthday, marking a significant milestone in his career.
“Lamine Yamal will be wearing the coveted No. 10 jersey for FC Barcelona next season. On the day that he signed his extended contract until 2031, the player who recently turned 18, received the shirt bearing the famous number from president Joan Laporta.”
According to reports, Yamal’s new contract includes a base salary of €15 million per season, which could increase to €20 million with performance bonuses.
Barcelona highlighted that this is another step forward for the young La Masia talent. He inherits the jersey number that became vacant after Ansu Fati’s transfer to AS Monaco, coinciding with an exciting new season as Barca aims to defend their titles.
What he has achieved so far: Yamal debuted in April 2023 and has already recorded 115 appearances, scoring 25 goals and assisting 34 times in his first two years. His contributions helped the team secure two La Ligas, one Copa del Rey, one Spanish Super Cup, and one UEFA Euro with the Spanish national team. At just 18 years old, he is poised for even greater achievements ahead.
