Bradley Beal to Join Clippers Following Suns Buyout

Bradley Beal, the three-time All-Star, has made a significant move to the Los Angeles Clippers after receiving a buyout from the Phoenix Suns.

Bradley Beal is moving on from the Phoenix Suns and has already lined up his next destination. The three-time All-Star guard has reportedly agreed to a two-year, $11 million contract with the Los Angeles Clippers after being bought out by the Suns, as reported by ESPN.

Despite being set to earn $110.8 million in the next two years, Phoenix will pay the majority of that sum. However, this decision allows the Suns to drop below the tax apportionment thresholds, thus avoiding various penalties, including withheld draft picks and limited trade possibilities.

This move will also enable Beal to be in a more favorable environment, as tensions had escalated between him and the Suns over the past two seasons. His performance declined from an impressive average of 23.2 points per game in the 2022-2023 season with Washington to just 17.6 points and 4.3 assists in 106 games with Phoenix.

The disparity between his significant contract and declining performance reached a breaking point near the prior NBA trade deadline, leading the Suns to bench him in an attempt to rejuvenate his play while encouraging him to waive his no-trade clause. Nevertheless, potential trade partners were scarce due to his contract situation.

Now that he has been bought out, various teams are eager to sign the 13-year NBA veteran, who is still capable of contributing to a winning team at a more affordable rate.
