Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson Sr. is believed to have fully recovered from a right shoulder setback, as reported by ESPN’s Stephen Holder. This update arrives just before the Colts begin training camp next week.
Richardson had previously missed the latter part of the Colts’ offseason workouts due to shoulder issues. In 2023, he underwent surgery to repair an AC joint sprain in his right shoulder and faced soreness in the same area recently.
According to Holder, the Colts believed the discomfort required ample rest. In the lead-up to training camp, Richardson spent time in Florida working with personal coaches to enhance his throwing velocity.
He will undergo a comprehensive evaluation upon reporting to training camp, with the scenario of Richardson being monitored on a “pitch count” to prevent overexerting his shoulder. As it stands, Richardson is in a competitive situation against former New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones for the starting position, following Jones’ one-year, $14 million contract signed in the offseason.
Key Statistics
In the previous season, Richardson completed 47.7% of his passes for 1,814 yards, along with eight touchdowns and twelve interceptions. He also rushed for 499 yards and six touchdowns across eleven games, despite missing several opportunities due to various injuries during the season.
