The journey to the USL Jägermeister Cup final proceeds with the quarterfinal draw scheduled for Friday on CBS Sports Golazo Network. Although the group stage remains ongoing, this draw is pivotal for establishing the hosting preferences between group winners and wild card teams.
The competition launched in 2024, originally catering solely to USL League One clubs, but now includes all USL Championship and League One teams in their own event. It mirrors England’s EFL Trophy, which encompasses teams from EFL League One and Two in addition to U-21 teams from the Premier League.
The inaugural champion, Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC, is no longer in the USL after transitioning to a Club League, paving the way for a new titleholder. So far, 14 teams have been knocked out of the running for the knockout stages, but there remains much at stake. In group play, each team competes in four matches, assigned randomly.
The champion will earn a cash prize of $100,000 and a Jägermeister prize pack.

Draw Process
During the draw, a bracket will not be finalized; it will merely illustrate potential matchups, such as how the winner of group one might host the third-placed team from group six. The group stage concludes on July 26, and all teams will then understand their positions.
Teams will be grouped into four categories to determine their hosting status. Teams from the same group will not compete against each other, and wild card teams cannot emerge from the same group. A separate draw will be conducted for the quarterfinals and semifinals to determine the final brackets.
Out of six group victors, only four will have the opportunity to host, with non-group winners automatically designated as the visiting teams. The Las Vegas Lights are the only team to have completed all four of their matches, while other teams still have one match left.
