Clippers Eye Chris Paul Amid Free Agency Talks; Knicks and Kings Interested in Ben Simmons

As the NBA free agency unfolds, the Los Angeles Clippers are contemplating signing Chris Paul, while the Knicks and Kings are looking into a potential acquisition of Ben Simmons.

The news on NBA free agency is heating up as Los Angeles Clippers general manager Lawrence Frank announced on Saturday that the franchise is “strongly considering” signing free agent guard Chris Paul. This comes after Paul hinted at a desire to return to Los Angeles, where his family still resides. Despite being in his 20th season with the San Antonio Spurs, Paul managed to start all 82 games last season, averaging 8.8 points and 7.4 assists per game.

On the other hand, unrestricted free agent Ben Simmons is still searching for a new team, with both the New York Knicks and Sacramento Kings as potential destinations. According to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, both teams see Simmons as a viable option, with the Kings addressing a backcourt need while the Knicks work on building around first-year coach Mike Brown.

Simmons had a disappointing season with the Brooklyn Nets, suffering from injuries that severely affected his gameplay. He underwent a microscopic partial discectomy last March, which alleviated some of his issues, allowing him to play in 33 games this past season, averaging 6.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 6.9 assists.

Additionally, the Kings have signed Dennis Schroder to a three-year deal, hoping he can step up as their point guard after trading away De’Aaron Fox. Simmons is also linked to the Knicks, where he could fit under the salary cap limitations while providing the team with a much-needed veteran presence.
