The boxing legend is back! Manny Pacquiao is making a comeback after a four-year hiatus aiming to reclaim his gold. Pacquiao is set to face WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios in the main event taking place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas this Saturday night.
Pacquiao’s last fight was in August 2021, where he suffered a defeat against Yordenis Ugas, leading to his retirement. After being inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame, Pacquiao, now 46, is eager to get back in the ring against the champion Barrios, whose career has seen ups and downs.
“I’ve been a challenger many times and it’s always the same feeling,” Pacquiao expressed. “I’m excited to take the belt. He’s a good fighter too, but our job is to entertain the fans. We’re going to give them a real fight. Saturday night it’s going to be a great fight. It’s been a while since I’ve been out of the ring, but I’m still active and exercising all the time. I’m going to prove to everyone that I’m in great condition.”
The undercard will feature a rematch for the unified junior middleweight titles, with champion Sebastian Fundora facing Tim Tszyu. Their previous match ended in controversy due to an accidental elbow that cut Tszyu open, resulting in Fundora winning by a split decision.
