Unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk not only achieved victories over elite fighters of his era, like Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury, but also did so consecutively. Looking to become the undisputed champion again, Usyk is set to face current IBF titleholder Daniel Dubois in front of more than 90,000 fans at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.
Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs), who has shown significant improvement since their last bout in 2023, knows he is facing a transformed opponent this time round. Previously viewed as underachieving after a controversial defeat to Joe Joyce back in 2020, Dubois has rebounded by knocking out notable opponents, including Joshua in a dramatic encounter.
Usyk’s experience and skills have kept him a formidable contender, despite his age of 38. At the press conference, he donned a striking white cloak and confidently dismissed concerns about his age, stating:
“I respect this young guy who is motivated. But I am not an old guy. 38 is not old.”
Both fighters’ previous encounter was punctuated by a low blow controversy. The rematch will be a test of Usyk’s enduring prowess against Dubois’ revitalized spirit.
