AJ Styles is back! He made his much-anticipated return to TNA Wrestling during Sunday’s Slammiversary, marking his first appearance with the organization since 2014.
Approximately 7,000 fans erupted with excitement as Styles’ old TNA theme, “Get Ready to Fly,” played at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York. Styles appeared shortly after Leon Slater, 20, claimed the title of the youngest X-Division champion ever by defeating Moose.
Styles greeted the audience, saying, “TNA, did you miss me?” to roaring cheers of “Welcome home!”

Styles, who was the very first X-Division champion, congratulated Slater and noted that the future looks promising for the division. The exuberant crowd chanted for “one more match.” Although Styles, at 48, did not confirm a longer TNA run, he mentioned, “We’ll get to that.”
It remains uncertain whether his appearance was a solo event or if he plans to make further appearances in TNA following the multi-year partnership launched in January between WWE and TNA, which has involved a talent exchange.
Reflecting on his journey, Styles expressed, “If I had the ability to go back in time, I’d tell myself, ‘You have no idea how far this ride’s about to take you…’”
Styles enjoyed a prominent career in TNA from 2002 until 2014, being a key player in the organization’s inovative X-Division. He is recognized not only as TNA’s first triple crown and grand slam champion but also for securing five world heavyweight titles during his tenure.
