With a contract deadlock impacting All-Pro pass rusher Micah Parsons before the training camp begins, the Dallas Cowboys evaluated three pass rushers before commencing their training camp in Oxnard, California. The team is considering free agents Jesse Luketa, Kameron Cline, and James Houston, as reported by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
Micah Parsons, the Cowboys’ leading pass rusher, has yet to finalize a contract as he approaches the last year of his rookie deal.
Among the players evaluated by the Cowboys, Houston is notable for his eight-sack season in 2022, achieved in only seven games with the Detroit Lions. However, a leg injury prevented him from participating in most of the 2023 season, subsequently leading to his release before being claimed by the Cleveland Browns.
Luketa, a seventh-round pick from the Arizona Cardinals in the 2022 Draft, has recorded three sacks and a forced fumble over 31 games. Notably, Luketa and Parsons were college teammates at Penn State. Cline is a former undrafted free agent who participated in the practice squads of the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets last season.
