Denver Summit FC Emerges from Fan Vote as New Name for Upcoming NWSL Team

The NWSL's newly established Denver franchise reveals its name and branding after a public voting campaign, set to debut in 2026.

The new NWSL team has confirmed its name and branding: Denver Summit FC. This latest franchise in the NWSL will launch its inaugural season in 2026, alongside another new team, Boston Legacy FC. Denver was designated as the league’s 16th franchise back in January.

The announcement of the name Denver Summit FC was made following a “Name The Club” vote where fans could choose from six options linked to local references, including Denver FC and Denver Gold FC. The voting drew substantial participation with over 15,000 votes cast, and Denver Summit FC emerged victorious by securing the most first-place votes.

“We are pleased to unveil Denver Summit FC as our name and to share our crest and colors with Colorado and the world,” said Jen Millet, Denver Summit FC President. “It was vital for us to name our club in collaboration with our community. Our crest, colors, and brand are representative of Denver and all of Colorado. It embraces our aspirational goals and pioneering spirit to build the best soccer club in the world.”

Denver Summit FC’s branding, featuring shades of green, white, red, and sandstone, was crafted by graphic designer Matthew Wolff, drawing inspiration from the natural landscape surrounding Denver. The naming process involved collaboration with Colorado’s professional ultimate frisbee team, Colorado Summitt, which also plans to rebrand ahead of its own 2026 season.

“Coloradans are passionate about the outdoors, so it was always our vision that the crest should depict our natural surroundings,” stated Rob Cohen, the controlling owner. “Our elevation offers us a distinct home field advantage, and our goal is to build a club that is always pursuing excellence on and off the field.”

As part of the expansion, the team has welcomed former NFL quarterback Peyton Manning to its ownership group and has begun constructing a cutting-edge performance center. They have also committed to building a new stadium specifically for NWSL matches, promising a 14,500-seat venue to be located at Sante Fe Yards, slated for completion in Spring 2028.
