Recovery Journey of Texas A&M's Reveille X After Glaucoma Surgery

The Texas A&M mascot, Reveille X, is on the mend after eye surgery prompted by a glaucoma diagnosis, with hopes for a return to normalcy by fall.

Texas A&M mascot Reveille X recently underwent eye surgery to alleviate issues stemming from glaucoma. University president Mark Welsh stated in a press release that the mascot had been experiencing significant discomfort and cloudiness in her right eye.

During the procedure, surgeons discovered abnormal tissue and opted to remove the eye as a precaution. The tissue has been sent for evaluation as per routine protocols. Welsh reassured the community that Reveille is recovering well post-surgery, stating she is “resting comfortably.”

“Our priority is her health and well-being, and we are blessed to have access to the remarkably talented and caring Texas A&M veterinary team who will continue to monitor Miss Rev on her road to recovery,” Welsh added. While she takes some time away from public engagements, Reveille X is expected to return to her usual activities by the fall, including attending classes and leading school spirit in her role as mascot.

Reveille X, known as the First Lady of Aggieland, has been in her role since April 2021, coming from Juell Collies in Topeka, Kansas. The Reveille mascots have been a cherished tradition at the university since 1931, symbolizing leadership and pride in the Texas A&M community.
