New York Yankees outfielder and reigning American League MVP Aaron Judge is out of Saturday’s lineup and is awaiting results on imaging performed on his right elbow. Yankees manager Aaron Boone on Saturday described the injury as an “elbow issue” to reporters, including Joel Sherman.
Judge encountered difficulties during Friday’s game against the Phillies while making throws from right field, and was observed grimacing in apparent pain after a throw during the game against the Blue Jays on Tuesday.
Boone did not disclose the suspected severity of the injury, but more information should follow once the imaging results are available.
The potential absence of Judge would be a pressing concern for the Yankees, as he is leading the league with a batting average of .342, an OPS of .771, and 37 home runs this season, maintaining a significant role as a frontrunner for the AL MVP, marking the threat it poses to the Yankees’ postseason ambitions.
