Cameron Brink Cleared to Play After Long Recovery from ACL Injury
Cameron Brink, a talented player for the Los Angeles Sparks, is set to return after a significant recovery period due to an ACL injury, although she will miss the upcoming game against the Liberty.
Cameron Brink, the second overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, is nearing her return after being sidelined for 13 months due to a significant injury to her left knee, which included a torn ACL and meniscus. Even though Brink has received clearance to start playing again, Sparks’ coach Lynne Roberts confirmed she will not participate in the game against the Liberty this Saturday but is hopeful for a swift return to the court.
Brink had begun participating in individual drills this summer but was limited to non-contact practices until recently. She expressed her gratitude for the team’s support during her recovery, saying:
“I feel great. I’m super thankful that the Sparks have let me take my time and really feel great coming back. I’m excited to be out there with my teammates.”This lengthy recovery process has been challenging for Brink, who initially aimed to be back before the All-Star break, a goal she did not meet. Even so, her comeback is anticipated shortly, as Brink emphasized the amount of effort she put into rehabilitation:
"I’ve put in a lot of hard work. I feel like what people usually see is me living my life normally, but people don’t see the hours and hours that I put in the gym with my trainers, amazing training staff. I’ve been working my (behind) off, so I definitely see the light at the end of the tunnel for sure."Brink last played on June 19, 2024, when she was injured in a matchup against the Connecticut Sun. In the limited time before her injury, she performed impressively, averaging 2.3 blocks, 7.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game.
