The Dallas Cowboys are facing significant challenges along their offensive line, with Tyler Guyton suffering a knee injury on Monday. This comes on the heels of Robert Jones breaking a bone in his neck during training camp practice on Sunday. Guyton had an MRI which initially raised concerns of a torn ACL, but it turned out to be a non-surgical bone fracture, with a recovery timeline of four to six weeks.
Guyton was a first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and quickly became a key player, starting 11 games during his rookie year. Amidst these injuries, Dallas may lean on this year’s first-rounder, Tyler Booker, who was drafted from Alabama.
Ongoing Offseason Challenges
The injury to Guyton is just another hurdle for the Cowboys, who have faced mounting frustrations this offseason with contract issues involving standout linebacker Micah Parsons. Guyton’s absence, coupled with that of Jones, will significantly test the depth of the team’s offensive line.
“Just because we sign him doesn’t mean we’re gonna have him. He was hurt six games last year. Seriously,” said team owner Jerry Jones regarding Parsons’ contract negotiations, which have added to the off-field drama as training camp begins. The Cowboys are looking to rebound from a 7-10 season, and these ongoing issues are likely to complicate their preparations for the upcoming season.
