Conor McGregor has officially returned to the UFC’s drug testing pool. This move marks the first step for McGregor’s potential comeback, eyeing next year’s suggested White House fight card.
Earlier in the week, McGregor posted photos and videos showing he was submitting samples. There was skepticism considering McGregor’s previous failures to deliver on his return promises. However, the official UFC Anti-Doping website confirms that McGregor has completed his first test session this year.
McGregor tested 11 times last year, mainly before a planned bout with Michael Chandler at UFC 303, which he later withdrew from due to a broken pinky toe. The former two-division UFC champion has not fought since experiencing defeat against Dustin Poirier in July 2021. Following a recent loss in his appeal related to a civil rape case in Ireland, McGregor has shown interest in fighting at next year’s proposed White House card.
“Excited with President Trump announcing a UFC fight event at the White House,” McGregor wrote on July 4. “I would be honored! Count me in!”
UFC officials confirmed plans for an event on White House grounds following President Trump’s public proposal for it as part of the U.S. 250th birthday celebrations. UFC’s CEO Dana White refrained from commenting on whether McGregor would be a suitable contender for the fight, given the long timeline ahead.
