Weather Halts Round 2 of Wyndham Championship; Cameron Young Leads

Cameron Young and Aaron Rai are contending at the Wyndham Championship, but thunderstorms have suspended play.

The second round of the 2025 Wyndham Championship showcased impressive performances at Sedgefield Country Club until severe storms led to a suspension of play at 4:32 p.m. ET. Golfers will resume their rounds on Saturday morning, with the third round set to kick off later in the day.

Before the interruption, Cameron Young surged ahead, reaching 14 under par by going 7 under through 15 holes during his second round. Originally starting the year with six missed cuts in eleven events, Young has bounced back with remarkable recent performances, including three top 10 finishes. His current form has dramatically shifted his position in the FedEx Cup rankings, with a win likely to propel him into a solid playoff position.

Aaron Rai, who is a formidable competitor following last year’s tournament victory, stands just one shot behind Young at 13 under. Rai is attempting to replicate his prior success and bolster his positioning in the playoff standings, knowing a victory this week could secure his spot in the prestigious events ahead.

Sungjae Im, another contender, has also made waves in the tournament with back-to-back rounds in the 60s. Players like Gary Woodland and Joel Dahmen are fighting to secure their places in the playoff cut.

Overall, a dynamic weekend awaits as these golfers strive not only for the championship but also to solidify their futures in the sport.
