2025 Ryder Cup: Spieth's Playful Suggestion for Captain Bradley
Jordan Spieth humorously comments on captain Keegan Bradley's choices for the Ryder Cup team selection, noting his current position outside of the selection picture.
As the FedEx Cup Playoffs kick off this week at the St. Jude Championship, the race for Ryder Cup selections intensifies. Keegan Bradley faces increasing pressure as he navigates a tight selection for the U.S. team. Following his earlier win, Bradley’s standing to be the first playing captain since Arnold Palmer in 1963 has become precarious, especially with younger players like Chris Gotterup and Cameron Young making headlines.
Spieth, currently outside the selection picture, expressed his ambition during a candid talk on SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio, joking about convincing Bradley to step down from playing to create an opening for another spot. “It was my loftiest goal to start the season…if you told me in August I’d have a chance, I’d be excited,” he said.
However, Spieth realizes his current position, stating, “I keep trying to convince Keegan it would be too much for him to play. Even if he’s a top player, it seems excessive. But yeah, it’d be incredible to play. This Ryder Cup would be remarkable playing at Bethpage.”
All eyes are on Spieth as he aims for a strong performance in Memphis, needing a solid showing to boost his chances and lock himself into the upcoming events.
