Russell Westbrook Aiming for Sacramento Kings Next Season

Recent reports suggest that Russell Westbrook is likely to join the Sacramento Kings as a free agent for the upcoming NBA season.

After dedicating much of his career to the Oklahoma City Thunder, Russell Westbrook has transitioned between five teams since his 2019 trade to the Houston Rockets. Currently, as a free agent, it seems he may join another team for the 2025-26 season.

According to Tim McMahon from ESPN, the Sacramento Kings are considered Westbrook’s most probable landing spot. If this move occurs, it’s likely that Westbrook would fill a role off the bench, similar to his recent experiences.

During the previous season, Westbrook was a part of the Denver Nuggets and performed notably as a reserve player, averaging 13.3 points, 6.1 assists, and 4.9 rebounds over 27.9 minutes per game, while maintaining a shooting percentage of 44.9% from the field. His postseason contributions were also significant, averaging 11.7 points, 3.7 assists, and 2.6 rebounds.

However, questions remain about how he would fit in with the current lineup, especially with Malik Monk slated to be the starting point guard and Dennis Schroder coming in to share ball-handling duties.
