The Los Angeles Rams have been in training camp for nearly three weeks now, and during that span, Matthew Stafford has not participated in any practice due to a back injury. Rams’ head coach Sean McVay expresses optimism that Stafford might be able to resume practice later this week. However, even with Stafford’s potential return, there is another significant concern regarding the left tackle position.
Stafford’s absence has overshadowed that Alaric Jackson has also been sidelined throughout training camp due to blood clots, preventing him from participating and raising concerns about his availability for the first game against the Houston Texans.
During a recent interview, McVay stated, “We’re still evaluating that,” regarding Jackson’s likelihood of playing in the opener. The team has implemented a competition among Warren McClendon, D.J. Humphries, and David Quesenberry at left tackle, increasing the pressure as the season approaches.
As the Rams prepare for the upcoming challenges, McVay is hopeful that Stafford can return to practice imminently, eyeing a promising start against the Texans despite the team’s current injury woes.
